Gloominaries: An Origin Story

It all began with a creepy old lamp, a dark corner, and a desired aesthetic. 

Hey, everyone! I'm Elyse! 👋🏻 When my husband and I moved to Villa Park in 2020, a creepy old lamp found in the creepy basement of our former creepy rental property made its way to our new home. The lamp was on its last legs but too cool to discard, so it resided, sad and lonely, in our crawl space indefinitely.  

But then, one day when I couldn't stand looking at the dark corner in our entry hallway any longer, I remembered the creepy old lamp in the crawl space and decided it was time to give it new life!

Despite its creepy character, the lamp did not quite match our vibe and the wiring did not work properly, so while I set out to give it a new look, my husband applied his electrician magic to remove a few pieces and rewire it back to working form. Hence, the creepy old lamp was restored to a gothic, glam piece of everyday decor.

Little did I know, this small DIY home project would "light" a passion in me for upcycling once-loved lamps with a gothic/horror twist. Next thing I knew, Gloominaries was born. 🤗
